Updates

December 2008:
Hajo moved, and with him his server... After half a year of down-time, hajo.net is back online again. Keep an eye open for the photos section, things will probably happen there soon. Meanwhile I'm out exploring a country and taking some pictures :)

May 2005:
Now that's news, don't underestimate the power of this: A major addition to the servives offered, Comms/Jukebox offers a full-fledged online media player. Ask me for an account and you'll have instant access to GB's of music wherever you are! Create your own playlists, play them instantly, browse for other music and, best for me, add your own music to the library so you can play it back later.

March 2005:
Slight architectural changes in the Software Section. Added some info about Bluetooth On Linux.

February 2005:
Into GPS-based navigation (say for Geocaching)? Then you might have had the need to convert coordinates from/to different datums. What seems to be a reasonablty simple calculation to be implemented in software is something that companies out there want to charge an arm and a leg for. So I wrote my own, cross-platform by being accessible by a browser and simply being put on this web page, under the Section Mobile. Pay me through PayPal if you feel like it ;-)

December 2004:
Christmas time, time for little gifts! Seen the disk quota of your account over here recently? It's been increased dramatically due to some (overdue) hardware upgrade. The storage space comes at a cost for me however. If you're happy with your increased disk quota and are using it, I'd be happy to receive a PayPal or cash donation...

October 2004:
Again some changes in the photo album. You can now easily navigate to the next & previous pictures. There's also a link now to download the full album in question.

July 2004:
The new site design seems to be accepted quite well. Even to the point that others start copying it. Check the site www(dot)markfelder(dot)net. For a while, you saw exactly the same design in the same colors over there. It has changed by now, but I believe you can still see where the inspiration came from.
Well, thinking positive, maybe I should start a second career in Web Design?

March 2004:
You certainly recognized it -- a new web design is creeping in. I was a bit unhappy with the loads of space the old design used especially at the top. The photo album wasn't really that pretty. The new design should also make it much easier to link to content on the page. Let's see...

January 2004:
Wohoo, major update. The server finally got migrated from RedHat 7 to Fedora Core 1. Major work as most of the stuff got a new install rather than a migration, but we're slowly getting back to where we were.
During the works, a few things have changed:

May 2002:
You complained -- you got it! The Photo Album can now zoom in and out. Finally these hughe pictures fit on your tiny little screen, too...
I'm sticking to my policy to keep this page as java-free as I can, so I had to fall back to CGI for this zooming thing. Sorry, but I have to waste around 20 bytes of your valuable HDD space by setting a cookie (to remember the zoom your crappy screen can handle).
That leaves you with 2 choices: Accept the cookie and zoom, or live with the standard size of the pictures...
Moreover, the underwater pictures moved to where people expect them -- to the Scuba section.

November 2001:
Got myself a new digicam, the Canon Powershot G2. Got therefore back into shooting everything that 'moves'. Wanting to post it wildly on my page, the existing pic-viewer app drove me nuts. As nice as it is to browse pictures, as inflexible is it when it comes to the Webmaster adding new pics. It's by now completely gone (well, except in the Webcam area) and a simple perl-script moved in which generates thumbnails and picture links automagically. Cost me a Sunday afternoon, but the pictures will keep on pouring in now.
The link to 'My Fileserver' is finally up; to be found in the Software area.
Work in progress, WebDiver is appearing on the page. If you're a diver who wants the ultimate tool to log his dives, ask me for an account. You'll then become part of my dearest alpha-testing team. See the Scuba area for the link.

October 2001:
My dear ISP has found an excellent way to prevent tojans from infecting their valuable customer's web-servers -- they just block incoming traffic on Port 80, making web-servers inaccesible alltogether :-(
After hoping that they'll come to their senses for 2 months, I finally gave up and now have a stealth-redirection up which puts incoming traffic on Port 8081 instead. That's the Transparent Proxy port, so you should be able to reach my page even if you're using a Proxy. Not sure though whether it works flawlessly. Pls. report success/failure to me...

June 2001:
Two major changes in my life [grin]:

These are reasons enough to get things going in a completely different way: I am moving my homepage to my own server and will try to broadcast it's address via DynDNS to the world beyond my box. Moving the page brings some changes, updates, et al. Let's see how far I get...

October 2000:
This is the all-new homepage. I got a bit bored by the old design and decided to take a break. I was hiding with a bottle-or-so of red wine and thought a bit how a homepage might look like. You are just about to figure out what this Italian wine did to me ;-)
I hope that these new pages load much quicker and won't kill your browser. I intended not to put much Java on it which should make the whole browsing experience much smoother for you non-windows guys (like me) out there. Please let me know if you find any trouble with my Homepage; I would like to have it as stable as possible rather than being filled with fancy stuff.
Oh, and one last thing: Yes, the text is a bit dark over-all. Is this still acceptable or should I make it brighter? Let me know!

September 2000:
Finally I've got Netvigator Ultraline at home -- a 1.5Mbps ADSL connection. In turn, I also cancelled my old ISP and in turn lost the web hosting with them. As I am too lazy to search for alternatives, this page is now back on Crosswinds (the only ones I found which do not force me to put an ad on my page. Let's see how it performs...

February 2000:
Quite some updates here! Lunar New Year Holiday gave me some time to continue on the Photo Album. There's still more to come...
I also decided to host the complete site (including the pics) on one Server. This should make the Photo Album loading faster now. Thanks, http://www.crosswinds.net for offering unlimited Server space Free Of Charge -- but your service was a bit too slow.
Finally, as I had to go through all the pages anyway, I updated the Homepages-Links a bit. That guy who keeps on demanding the Goodies back, there's a link to a good site which keeps that sort of info much more up-to-date. Check it out!

September 1999:
Added a link to my own Server -- hosting a few nice things. You can only access it if I'm online though...

July 1999:
After some people were complaining (and my weird Netscape for Linux continued crashing), I've updated the left frame: If you are having trouble browsing here, click on the 'no java' link and you get an ugly but quick, stable and simple menu.
